Independent Explorers:
- Self-guided exploration of the museum for 2 hours
- $10 per student, minimum of 10 students
- 1 chaperone required per 10 kids, required chaperones are free
- additional chaperones are welcome for $10
Students will be broken into groups with the appropriate number of chaperones to rotate though the exhibit areas.
Field Trip Details:
- Field Trips require a 50% nonrefundable deposit within 48 hours of booking.
- All Field Trips are subject to the 6% revitalization fee
- Field Trips must be scheduled at least two weeks in advance.
- Field Trips require a minimum of 10 students, smaller trips can be scheduled but will be required to pay for 10 students.
- Field Trip reservations are for 2 hours. If you would like to stay longer than 2 hours, you will be charged full admission ($16 per person) instead of the $10 field trip rate.
- SCM does not allow eating in the museum, ask SCM staff for recommendations on where your group can have their snack while on campus.

Field Trip FAQs
Q: How do I schedule my field trip?
A: Please submit an inquiry form and you will receive an email to continue booking. A field trip must be scheduled at least two weeks in advance.
Q: How do I pay for my group's field trip?
A: After signing a digital contract, a nonrefundable deposit is due within 48 hours of working your field trip through Square, a digital payment platform. If the deposit is not paid, the reservation will be cancelled. The remaining balance is due 1 week before your scheduled date.
If paying with a Purchase Order, the PO is due in lieu of a deposit.
Q: If my attending group ends up being smaller than what I quoted, will I be refunded?
A: No. We do not offer refunds for the field trip once it has been paid in full. If you need to adjust the number in your group, please contact us at least a week before you field trip.
Q: Can I cancel my field trip?
A: Field trip reservations may be cancelled until 1 week in advance of the field trip date. If final payment has been made, we are able to refund 50%. The 50% deposit made upon booking is nonrefundable. However, deposits may be used toward a future field trip date depending on availability.
Q: Are masks required for my group?
A: Masks are required for your group for everyone ages 3+ if visiting during one of our Mask Up Mornings. These occur from open – Noon on Sundays. If visiting outside of those times, masks are not required.
Q: What if my group is running late?
If your group arrives late, your 2-hour time slot does not change. Museum staff may be able to allow a time extension (museum capacity depending). If you have a Play Package Add On and arrive more than 30 minutes past your arrival time, your field trip Play Package may be shortened or cancelled with no refund. Please take note of traffic and plan ahead. If you are unsure, we recommend scheduling a later time for museum entry and spending some time on Seattle Center’s playground should you arrive early.
Q: Are there available discounts for Title 1 schools?
A: When filling out the Field Trip Booking Inquiry Form, please indicate if your school is Title One, and/or the percentage of your student body on free/reduced lunch. Our staff will work with you to find a field trip/play package cost that works for your school and budgetary restrictions. We unfortunately cannot guarantee a set discount prior to receiving your inquiry form. Additionally, we do not reimburse bus costs at this time.
