Play Package Field Trip enhancements are designed to engage your students through play and expose them to math, science, and art concepts in a learning environment outside the conventional classroom setting. All play packages are led by Museum Educators and adhere to a variety of NGSS, CCSS, and ESE standards, a physical, uniquely-created item for each student to take home, and educator resources to assist you in recreating these activities in your teaching environment or classroom.

Sensational Slime Playful Package Add on

Sensational Slime - Science & Sensory Learning
Recommended for Ages 4 - 10

Students will explore polymers with this hands-on activity involving making your own slime utilizing skills in chemistry and scientific inquiry. After making their own slime, participants will rotate through stations to customize, stretch, and measure their gooey globs!

Forest Frolic - Field Trip Play Package Add On

Forest Frolic - Science, Horticulture, and Community
Recommended for Ages 3 - 6

Students will use natural materials such as flowers and dried leaves to create physical creations through printmaking, painting, and patterning with kappla blocks and flower stackers. Participants will practice making scientific inquiries as they also utilize linguistics and early math skills. We may get a little messy as we plant seeds in bags to take home to watch grow!

Action Art - Field Trip Play Package Add On

Action Art - Art & Kinetics
Recommended for Ages 4 - 10

Students will study the science behind art as they create unique designs using gravity and the forces of motion. Using magnets, marbles, and paint, participants will utilize ramps as the canvases in this communal art display.

Q: Can I book multiple Play Packges for one field trip?

A: Groups can book one type of play package per field trip. Depending on group size, students and chaperones can participate in up to four rounds of the selected play package (up to 20 students per round; max 80 students).

Q: Are the 30-minute Play Packages added on to my 2-hour field trip window as additional time?

A: No. The 30-minute Play Package time frame is included in your 2-hour field trip.

Q: How do I add a Play Package onto my pre-existing field trip?

A: For pre-existing field trip bookings, please feel free to reach back out to the staff member that booked you to schedule a Play Package. For new field tirp bookings, please fill out the booking inquiry form and indicate which package(s) you’re interested in.

Q: Do you have educator resource guides for me to re-create these activities in my classroom after the field trip?

A: Yes. During your field trip, our Education staff will provide a resource guide to you providing more information on the activity you booked and how you can re-create it in the classroom.

Q: Are there available discounts for Title 1 Schools?

A: When filling out the Field Trip Booking Inquiry Form, please indicate if your school is Title One, and/or the percentage of your student body on free/reduced lunch. Our staff will work with you to find a field trip/play package cost that works for your school and budgetary restrictions. We unfortunately cannot guarantee a set discount prior to receiving your inquiry form.
