Cue the Birthday Confetti! SCM is turning 46.

March 21, 10am – 5pm
(9:30am Member Early Access)

This year’s Birthday Bash theme, Community Canvas, is our way of celebrating the many hands, big and small, that have shaped SCM. Our community is the color, energy, and heart behind it all, and as we turn 46, we’re getting festive with hands-on art and sensory play activities throughout the Museum.

Join us with the family for:
• Collaborative mural creating
• Crown decorating fit for a birthday celebration
• Birthday cake slime fun
• Kazoo making for a little joyful noise
• Playful pretend cooking inspired by our friend’s at Navi’s Catering Kitchen
And more!

We’ll also have a few of our favorite community partners:

• Nepantla Cultural Arts Gallery leading watercolor & block print painting | Time: 10am – 3pm
•
A tabling with children’s book author & illustrator Julie Kim | Time: 11am – 1pm
• Mr. Bri Guy and The Radio Flyers performing live birthday tunes | Time: 11am – 11:30am
 A tabling with children’s book author & illustrator Tom Crestodina | Time: 12pm – 2pm
Seattle Opera hosting Opera Story Time | Time: 2pm – 2:30pm

Come create with us and add your own splash of color to our community canvas!

Q: Where can I park?

A: There are several parking options around the Seattle Center where Seattle Children’s Museum is located. Please visit our Parking and Transportation page here for specifics.

Q: Can I bring my stroller?

A: Absolutely! Stroller parking is available for use in addition to coat hooks and open cubbies. Depending on events or the number of museum guests, the stroller parking area may be relocated to a larger area. Feel free to check with the front desk if you have any questions.

Q: What age range is this event designed for?

A:  All of our special events and programs serve the Museum’s primary audience of 0 – 10 years, and often with our special events, older kiddos have tons of fun too. Our amazing Staff and Museum Educators work to curate each activity so that they engage a variety of ages and ensure fun and learning for all.

Q: Will the museum be super crowded?

A: We expect our birthday weekend to be quite busy, especially in the mornings, so we recommend visiting in the afternoon if you prefer a slightly less crowded atmosphere.

Q: Are food and/or drinks allowed in the museum?

A: Yes; you can bring food into the museum as long as it stays packed away. When your group is ready to eat we ask that you either utilize our snack area in-between the Front Desk and the Corner Workshop or exit the museum and enjoy your food either in the Market Place upstairs our outside on the Seattle Center grounds. Don’t worry – your admission is good for the day! Just stop by the front desk on your way out.

We do allow water, in a spill-proof container, to be the museum and exhibit areas.

Q: Is there a time limit for how long we can stay?

A: There is no time limit. You can feel free to stay and play as long as we’re open!
